Compare campaign results

Put two to eight sent campaigns side by side in Mailsoftly. Read the highlight cards, engagement bars and list health, then follow the charts and the full metrics table.

One campaign’s open rate on its own is just a number. Held against three other sends, it becomes a decision: this subject line style works, that send time does not.

Campaign comparison puts your sent campaigns side by side on the same metrics, marks the leader in each one, and shows every rate against your account average.

Start a comparison

There are two ways in. From the campaigns list, tick the campaigns you want, then press Compare in the bulk action bar that appears. Or open global search and choose Campaign comparison, which lands you on the picker with the heading Compare your campaigns and the line "Pick 2 to 8 sent campaigns to compare them side by side."

A few rules keep the view honest.

  • You need at least two campaigns, and eight is the ceiling. Mailsoftly tells you either way with "Select at least 2 campaigns to compare." or "You can compare up to 8 campaigns at once."
  • Once you are in, the chip strip along the top holds your selection. Each chip has a Remove option, and the Add campaign chip opens a picker titled Choose campaigns to compare with an Apply button, so you can swap a campaign in or out without starting over.
Careful

Only sent campaigns qualify. Drafts and scheduled campaigns are skipped with a notice, because a campaign that has not gone out has no statistics to compare.

Read the cards

Every campaign in the comparison gets a colored letter badge, A through H, and that badge is its identity everywhere else on the page: on the bars, in the chart series, and as the dot beside its column in the table. Learn the letters once and the rest of the page reads quickly.

The sections stack in a deliberate order.

  • Highlights answers "which campaign leads each key metric" with cards for Best open rate, Best click rate, Best click to open and Lowest unsubscribe rate. A card only appears when one campaign clearly leads it.
  • Engagement compares Open rate, Click rate and Click to open as bars. The dashed marker running across every bar is your account average, so you can see at a glance whether a campaign beat your own normal, not just the campaign next to it.
  • List health covers Bounce rate, Unsubscribe rate and Complaint rate, and it is the one section where lower is better. The crown goes to the smallest number, not the biggest.

Crowns mean Best in this comparison. When two campaigns tie, neither is crowned, which keeps the page from picking a winner that does not exist.

Tip

Click to open is the most underrated number here. It divides clickers by openers, so it tells you how convincing the content was for the people who actually read it, separate from how well the subject line did its job.

Follow the charts and the full table

Below the cards, two charts show the shape of each send rather than a single total.

  • Engagement over time plots cumulative engagement across the first 72 hours, lined up on hours since each campaign’s own send, so a Tuesday morning send and a Friday evening send stay comparable. Toggle between Opens and Clicks, and between First 24h and the full 72h window to zoom into the early rush.
  • Delivery funnel groups Delivered, Opened and Clicked as columns, so you can see how far each campaign carried its audience. Switch between Counts and percent of delivered depending on whether the campaigns were the same size.

The All metrics table closes the page with every number for every campaign, grouped into Delivery, Engagement and List health rows. Each rate carries a delta pill comparing it to your account average, which is often the more useful comparison of the two. Clicking a campaign’s chip name or its column header opens that campaign’s own statistics page in a new tab, so you can dig into a single send without losing the comparison.

Note

A footer line reminds you that these statistics are calculated live and keep updating as recipients engage. A campaign sent this morning will still be moving, so compare recent sends against each other rather than against one that has had a week to settle.

Two or three comparisons in, you stop guessing which subject line style, send time or audience cut works for your list, because the page keeps telling you.
