Understand a contact profile
Read a contact profile in Mailsoftly. See a person's details, follow their activity timeline, and check the email subscriptions that reach them.
Behind every list is a set of real people, and the contact profile is where you get to know one of them. This guide shows how to read a profile end to end, from their core details to the history of how they have engaged with you.
By the end you will know how to open a profile, move between its tabs, follow a person’s activity over time, and confirm exactly which emails they have agreed to receive.
Open a contact profile
Click any contact in your audience to open their full profile. The layout is two panels: a summary card on the left and a tabbed area on the right, so everything about that person sits in one view.
- The left card shows their name and initials, an activity rating, and the core fields: Email, Phone, Created at, Opt-in Date, and Contact Owner.
- Empty fields read Not Specified, which is a quick cue for records worth completing before a big send.

Read their details across the tabs
The right panel is split into tabs so you can move from static facts to engagement history without leaving the page.
- Contact Details groups everything into Basic Information, Work, Personal, Address, Note, and Custom Fields, each inline editable.
- The Contact Lists card here shows every list this person belongs to, with Add To Contact List and Remove From List controls.
- Sent Emails lists the campaigns they received, with All Emails, Opened Emails, and Clicked Links filters and a count on each.
Fixing a typo or filling a missing field here keeps your future sends accurate.

Follow the activity timeline
Open the Activity tab to see how this person’s relationship with you took shape. The timeline is a subscription and creation record, so it answers where they came from and how their consent has changed.
- It records three moments: Contact created, Subscribed, and Unsubscribed, newest first, with Load more to page back.
- Each row names the source, such as Import, Form submission, Preference page, One-click unsubscribe, API, or Added manually.
Opens and clicks are not on this timeline; you will find those on the Sent Emails tab instead.
Before you re-engage a quiet contact, read their timeline first. Someone who unsubscribed should stay off your sends, while a recent joiner from a form may just need a warmer welcome.

Check their email subscriptions
Scroll to the Email subscriptions card on the left to see exactly what this person is opted into. It shows which email subscriptions can still reach them, and now also tells you why, so you never send something they did not sign up for.
- A single status badge sits at the top: Subscribed, Global unsubscribed, or a suppression state like Bounced or Complaint.
- Every row carries a small status line that explains itself. Subscribed names the source and date, such as a form submission. Receiving names the linked contact list that delivers the subscription, and the list name is a link straight to that list. Opted out says whether an admin or the recipient did it, with the date.
- A subscription tied to a list this person is not on reads "Not on" the list name, then "receives nothing". Campaigns sent with that subscription skip them until you add them to that list, and the list name link takes you right there.
- Rows with nothing going on fold behind Show all subscriptions, so the card leads with what actually affects this person.
- Each switch controls the opt-out. When a person opted out themselves, the row locks so only they can resubscribe.
- Open History to see the last few subscription changes, use View all activity to jump back to the full timeline, or follow Manage subscriptions & linked lists to the preference page designer where the subscription and list wiring lives.
A row can lock with a note that only the recipient can resubscribe. That is by design after a self opt-out, so respect it rather than forcing them back on.
