The hosted server needs nothing installed. Add the server URL to your client, approve the connection on Mailsoftly's consent screen, and the assistant can start working with your account.

The MCP server is an OAuth 2.1 client of your own account: PKCE, short-lived access tokens, rotating refresh tokens, and a Connected apps page in your settings where you can cut access anytime. The same platform powers the REST API for developers.

What is the Mailsoftly MCP server?

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets AI assistants use tools. The Mailsoftly MCP server exposes your account, contacts, lists and campaigns, as 134 documented tools, so any MCP-compatible assistant can work with it in plain language.

Which AI tools can connect?

Any client that supports MCP. Claude connects in one click from the Claude directory. The hosted server also works with other clients that support OAuth sign-in, such as ChatGPT, and a local stdio server is available for desktop clients such as Cursor and VS Code. Setup steps for each are at app.mailsoftly.com/developers/mcp.

Do I need to install anything?

Not for the hosted server. Add the URL app.mailsoftly.com/mcp to your client and sign in with your Mailsoftly account. The local server is optional and needs Node.js and an API key.

Can the assistant send emails without asking me?

Only if you grant the send permission. It is a separate checkbox on the consent screen and off by default. Without it the assistant can search, add and update contacts, manage lists and write drafts, and you send from Mailsoftly yourself.

What permissions does it use?

Seven scopes: read contacts, write contacts, read campaigns, draft campaigns, send campaigns, write suppressions and read account. The client asks for what it needs, you see each one on the consent screen, and you can revoke the connection anytime from Connected apps in your settings.

Is the MCP server free?

Yes. It is included on every plan, including the free plan that starts with your Google or Microsoft account and no credit card.

What else does Mailsoftly connect to?
